When I encounter this type of error message,
usually it meant a few things, first check
that no foreign object ( usually the floopy
tab ) is found inside the FDD. Next use a
floppy cleaner and clean the drive. Lastly,
replaced the FDD if all else fail. The fourth
factor would be with the floppy itself. Test
the FDD with other floppies first before you
do the self test above. Good luck.

you probably don't want to make changes in the BIOS, if you did, reload defaults for that particular device. and check if it works in dos. boot to floppy. if that doesn't work then you've got a bad floppy. you also might wanna check that you didn'tput the ide cable in backwards.

First to find out if this is a hardware or software issue. Reseat the cables on your floppy drive and try to use a boot disk (ex. Win95 or Win98 startup disk will work fine.) If able to boot from floppy then drive is good, if not then will need to replace drive.

Thank you
