I have recently reached out to several staffing firms, both large and small, to get some idea/metrics on their use of Independent Contractors (broker’s non-W-2 employees). I have received feedback from “We do not use Independent Contractors”, to “Weonly have a couple”, etc.
I work with a few people who’ve worked for a large ($120MM ) staffing firm, and were at around 20%-30% (for micro or single-person corps.). Oddly enough when I talk to my “friends” in the industry, they confirm this to still be the case. However, when I talk to the above, I get a whole different story. What’s going on here? Are some of these companies in denial, or have the numbers shifted over the last couple of years?
As a lot of people in this forum are recruiters, I was hoping to get some feedback directly from the “front lines”.
