File Access Problems Wireless LAN
The host can see the laptop and access files fine, and the link is strong and fast (Access was a problem both ways originally, but disabling the XP Firewall solved half of it, getting access to the laptop from the host etc). Likewise there?s no problem with the Internet access; again really fast.
I?m pretty sure that I?ve tried just about everything ? the machines can ping each other, using IP addresses in the Run command act the same as attempts made in other ways (i.e. the big one can see the little one but not vice versa, both can see the router). All accounts on both machines have administrator privileges, and settings are default with the exception that I?ve disabled simple file sharing to get to classic file sharing. I?ve tried setting up identical accounts on each machine with no password and administrator privileges but this didn?t help either. (This particular network is at home ? the accounts don?t usually have passwords)
Both machines run Windows XP Pro SP1. The desktop is the host wired into a Belkin ADSL modem/54.11g Wireless Router; the laptop has a Linksys PCMCIA notebook adapter.
Any suggestions please ? I?m tearing my hair out over this (and I didn?t have too much to start off with...!)?
