File and directorary name lengths

By Sprocket ·
We are currently having a few problems including nightly back ups.
These are due to users creating massive directories strings and file names.

Could you tell me the maximum length you should use in Novell 4.11 for file names and the maximum number of sub driectories you should have.

Thank you,
Steve.

Depens on the naming system installed.Default long name (long.nam) system has 256 as it's the maximun file name lengh (This may be different if you are using Os2.nam -> whichs has only 64 char only)
You can find the "maximun subdirectory tree depth" value of your system under monitor.nlm/ server parameters / file system
along with a description and it's maximum and minimun values.

Good luck
