      Chris,

This is something that you only need to change once. Here’s how to do it manually – not sure if you want the script so that your users won’t have to manually do it, if so, I don’t know of any automatic way to do it without writing a program to edit the registry.

To change a file association manually:

In NT Explorer: while pressing the Shift key, right click on an HTML file. From the menu choose Open With. From the program list, choose IE – and check the box “always use this program to open this type of file” and press OK.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback but i really would need the script to do this because i have hundreds of users and i know if i leave it up to them that will be more trouble than its worth.

        thanks

You will need to manually change the association on your machine then export the following registry key:

      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/HTML/HtmlDefBrowser/DefaultIcon

This is the key that will create the association for .htm files to open with netscape. You can then e-mail this to all users and they need only to double click on it.

I hope that this works for your situation. A logon script really isn’t necessary, nor is a special program to edit the registry
