File / Directory Security

By Philippians ·
Just a few minutes back, my boss was shouting in anger because one of our Autocad operator told him that the directory that he was working with was gone at our file server and our boss need to have a print of the drawings because tomorrow he will be in a meeting. To make it short, I search the file server for the missing file directory and praise God I found it. It is inside of the other directory. Meaning, someone moved the missing directory to another directory. Our users have a full control permission for our drawing directories. My question is - can it be possible to know who among our users moved the directory?

Our file server is an IBM eServer 235 with Windows Server 2003 R2. We are not using an Active Directory. Our Domain Controller is an old IBM Netfinity 3500 with Windows Server SBS2003 R1.

I will appreciate very much any information and help that I can get from you guys out there.

God bless

It should depend on your settings, and logs. But, it would be a good clue to look at the last 'user' to have accessed / updated it. (could have been misplaced by accident, unfortunately it happens.) -d
