File/Folder Auditing

By mlacombe ·
I'm looking for a software package that would have extensive reporting tools for monitoring file and folder access. Logging creation, deletion, copying, editing, etc. of files, who the user/pc is and what they did with the files.
Windows auditing doesn't really look that extensive. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Document Management

Depending on what level of compliance is required, 21 Part 11, HIPAA, SOX, etc., there are several different knowledge management software applications out there.

Unless you are required to be compliant and not simply dealing with a paranoid management, these packages are VERY expensive.

The Document Management Industries Association is a good place to begin

For a mid-price solution, you might want to look at ScriptLogic's File System Auditor.

This looks like it's exactly what we need. Going to download it right now and test it out. Money really isn't an issue, the more reporting and monitoring we can do, the better. We also don't need to worry about any compliance. Would you happen to know of anymore products that we can compare? Or where to find a list? Briefly looking at dmia, I wasn't able to find that.
