File History – Windows 10

by pastorvic1 . Updated 7 years, 1 month ago

The old hard drive in my laptop (Win 10) had a C partition for programs and OS, and a D partition for data.
I backed up the data from both partitions using File History. Now I need to restore it.
My new hard-drive does not have a data partition, just a C drive. I could set up the D partition if I wanted to, but haven’t decided whether it’s worth it.
My question is: what will happen if I attempt to restore my File History backup to my new hard-drive? Will it be looking for a D partition on the new drive, and fail, or will it restore all the data to the relevant folders on my C drive?
Thanks for your help.
Vic
