I manage a small network with approx 40 users, 2 servers (1 novell, 1 nt). When I started there were only 2 pc’s. I have come to realize that we need to design and enforce some kind of file management. Initially I set up directories for each department on the server, but those have become an absolute nightmare. No one can find anything. I have thought of creating master files (templates) for the more common forms etc and put those on the server. I cant seem to get users to use thier home directories or to understand that I will not backup individual PC’s. If it is important, save it on the server. Can anyone recommend an outline or guide for me to begin to write some standard file management procedures for our company? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
