File Searches across WAN = no results

I have 2 AD 2000 domains within the same forest that are connected by a T1 line. I have file servers at each site that act as document storage servers. The everyone group has read permission to these shares. When I try to do a search across domains it returns with no results. I can browse to the directory and get the exact file name and type it in my Windows search (usually XP Pro) and still get no results. Does anyone have any ideas on this. Thanks in advance.
