    file share passwords

    Locked

    by robin.dinardi ·

On a Windows 2000 computer there is a file that sharing has been enabled on for a windows 98 computer user. When the windows 98 user tries to access the share file he is asked for a password. The Windows 2000 user who enabled sharing does not remember setting a password for the shared file. How do I get to the password? Or how do I remove the share and set it up properly?

If in your network exist a Domain Controller (server) check permissions and security settings for this share. Be sure that here is added this Win98 account user.
If your network is a pear to pear network without domain controller you must add on Win2000 computer in User Manager this Win98 user with the same name and password. After that add in share permission/security this user.

THe password asked may also be the password of the machine itself and not the file.

If you want to change this U open this computer and choose the share drive option of the desired drive. where the screen explains itself.

Maybe this will help U …
