By bubloo ·
I am having windows NT as my domain controller and 98 as my desktop os. Whenever i try to access a share in my server from workstation i am getting
" You must supply passwd for this connection IPC$"
I didn't give any passwd for my share.
but i am able to access the workstation's share from my server. how to overcome? Most of the time i stuck up in this. My netlogon, workstation and computer browser services were running.

Kindly help me.

IPC$ is an administrative share, it is not for accessing files on the nt server.

On the nt server use Windows explorer and right click on a folder you want to share.

Share the folder and give rights to the proper nt domain users you want to access that files.

Then when you try and connect or map a network drive, use the share name you created to access the files.

Hi Shakthi..
Simple solution... is here...
create an username in Winnt domain controller with whatever password you like to give.. and in 98 pc, just click on logoff and type the username and password you gave in domain controller. you have two retype the password twice. or...

click on logoff in windows 98 . and give the
username as administrator and give the password what you gave in domain controller. enter twice. if it says password error(if you have configured that administrator login with a different password, u can just search for .pwl file and remove that administrator.pwl (only if that exists)).

There you go.. you are inside winnt :)
