File Sharing, Back-up, Replication Plan

by Ryan Boudreaux140 . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

We are bringing together three new remote subneted LAN’s into our WAN and are researching options that would fit in the Microsoft NT 4.0 Server platform with file sharing, back-up, and file replication for remote users. We currently have a back-up system in place for our local servers, and the netlogon share is replicated between the PDC and BDC. We have one Microsoft Terminal Server running Citrix that enables file sharing access for two currently established remote sites.

We are currently looking at DFS, offline files, and users home directories at this time. We want to enable remote users the ability to back-up their files/folders on a daily basis across the network. We do not have plans at this time of installing any BDC’s or file servers at the remote sites, as each site will only have 4-7 nodes.

Completion of the LAN to WAN connectivity implimentation is to take place within the next 30 – 60 days.

Any “Best Practices” for implimentation of this type of network would behelpful!
