File Sharing Windows XP

By donj ·
We run a peer to peer Microsoft Workgroup LAN. We recently added a new machine running Windows XP. How do you setup password/control and share level access in Windows XP with the majority of machines running Windows 98? The shared folder commands inWindows XP do not seem to allow password protection per specific folder.

All you need to do is open My Computer.
1. Click Tools
2. Click Folder Options
3. Click the View Tab
4. Scroll down to the bottom
5. Uncheck Use simple File Sharing

Now you should be able to right click a folder and set up whatever sharing you want.
