File Timestamp Reporting

By Mongooch ·
Here's the senario:

There is a file in a shared directory on a Win NT 4.0 network. When you view the file from a Win 98 workstation, the date/time stamp is 9/1/01, 3:23am. Viewing the same file with a Win NT workstation, the date/timestamp is 9/1/01, 11:23am. There is an 8hr time difference. I have checked all clocks and they are within minutes of each other. Has anyone ever experienced this and is there a fix or workaround?

That's a weird one! Did you double-check the time zone settings on each machine?

Do you see the time difference using Windows Explorer and at the command prompt (e.g. DIR)?

The time zone thing did it.

Thanks.
