Files sharing

By tshaffer ·
I have 50 computers on a network. All computers have same password for username (administrator). I have file sharing activated. My problem is - each time I type \\computername\c$, I am able to access the C drive without prompting for the username and password. How can this be prevented? How can I have the computer prompt for the username and password for access?

restrict file share access

I believe you have to set it to restricted by using the Sharing and Security choice, then make the folder private.

After that, I believe you can grant access to specific users/groups and password it.

In the MMC Security and configuration

assign your groups to the user rights:

"Access this computer from the network"
"Allow logon through Terminal Services"
"Deny access to this computer from the network"

I think if you define your groups correctly, you have a 50-60% chance of this solving the problem indirectly; but I am still new to all this stuff.
