Filesvr.msc

Dear Colleagues,
When I try to view/manage the shares on my servers through the File server management console, I am able to see the Option to send console message on some win 2003 servers and not on others. does anyone know why this option would be missing on some servers and not on another??

Check to see the Messenger service is running on the servers which are not displaying the console message.

A simple command will enable the

go to a command prompt and type the following:

CD \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

REGSVR32 SENDCMSG.DLL

Click OK to the message and then type EXIT. It should now appear when you right click on "Shares" in "File Server Management".
