Greetings,
Here’s my situation. I have a Linux system with single hard drive. The root partition, an ext3 partition and a swap partition. A few days ago I heard the drive start the signature “clicking” sound indicating imminant failure. I did a ghost to a newer, larger hard drive. The ghost finished.
Upon rebooting to the new drive, I can’t mound my ext3 partition. I get the error “No journal on filesystem”. I tried running fsck but I get a long list of inode of errors having to hit “Y” for each one. Like “Root inode is not a directory”, and “deleted inode has zero dtime”.
Is there any chance of salvaging this partition? How? If I try to set the switch to auto-fix, it reports it can’t and I should try running it manually.
Help!
