we would like to draw your attension on a problem described below:
In our hospital we archieve our patients scanned prescriptions in filesystem as
“root directory/patient folder/visit folder/image number.jpg”
Presently our filesystem is ext3.
A couple of week ago, we had our file system crashed and we had to recover the images with the help of external available professionals,
who advised us to keep images in the database (Oracle 10g) rather than using the file system as the file system cannot work with more than 64000 folders in a root directory. we are worried as The quantity of folders and images are increasing each day with an approx. 400 folders per day.
could someone authenticate the statement or give us some alternative idea.
