Fill in the blank: The web "Feature" I can live without is__

By Jaqui ·
to start it off I'll say Multimedia Content.

What website "features" really do nothing to improve your internet activities?

Without a doubt, the web feature that I can live without is this whole wiki-for-the-sake-of-wiki trend, especially within an organization.

They tend to be out of date (cause no one wants to go through the tedium to edit) and no one goes to them because they forget where they are (and because they're out of date).

BTW, just to remind everyone that I am a team player, make sure you check out the TechRepublic wiki

I'll see your wiki and raise you a blog

I just don't get them. I understand the technology behind them makes it easier for people to produce and publish web content. But with that ease of use has come a flood of trivial content similar the early websites designed from within ISP-proprietary packages. I'm not saying there should be restrictions on content; I'm saying when pages were harder to create people wouldn't bother if all they had to publish was a list of their favorite songs.

Myspace and all other kinds of social networking sites. They're a huge waste of the hard drive space they take up. Nobody cares what kind of "Laguna Beach" character you are and nobody cares that you can accumulate 1,281 virtual friends.

I think that, like, that, ya know, like, that , My My Space place, is like, ya know, like the, like huh, place where , ya know, like, all of my friends, like go and stuff ...

Except for the advertising revenue, it is a hugh waste of space and bandwidth (including mine when I am trying to conduct business on the same line as my kid).

that way you and your kid can be on line.
As for me, I wish they had never thought up pop ups, pop unders, especially the little ones that don't follow your scroll.

I find quite a few Blogs actually interesting, and stimulating to the mind. In other words, I've either learned something or have been given a new method of thought. However, this can only be said for a "Small " part of the Blog comunity. For the most part, I've found them to be pointless, bordering on irrelevant, not entirely on topic and bloated with examples given to show Superior Knowledge. This isn't what a Blog is supposed to be,"Or so I thought" I thought it would be an exchange of "Sensible" ideas and observations, instead of this much ado about nothing. Heck I've derived more fun and far more pleasuer in following a thread. Some of the stuff, although quite serious, can be hysterical.
It's too bad that a lot of people who write these Blogs are so wrapped up in thier own level of Self importance rather than the message that they are trying to convey and my I add, to an audience who knows the difference.
And "A Blogging" we will go.

Just give me ranked list of terms, and spare me the so-cool-it's-useless Web2.0 presentation gibberish.
