Find listening ports on RHEL5

By jascolby ·
I have to find and put into a file the following:

all ports that are less than 1024 that are listening in /etc/services.

I have tried several things and cannot get the intended result.

Can anyone help?

Do they work, but you simply did not pipe output to a file?

netstat --listen
RH suggests netstat -an
or use nmap

Although it would probably be best to check the RHEL5 docs on your installation, or here http://www.redhat.com/rhel/
(As RHL9 was the last non-enterprise RHL before it changed to Fedora, so it is a bit old.)
