Finding specs for a new win2k root DC

By javierbarrera ·
My company is migrating toward a windows 2000 domain and I've been asked to spec out a new root DC for the new domain. while I've read what Ms says I need, they seem to always understate true needs. I will run all browing services (WINS, DDNS, etc...) and house Backoffice 2000, minus Exchange and SQL. If you can pass along any information I'd appreciate it.

I've found that the 2000 server products are very RAM intensive. I just put together a Dell poweredge w/ 1GB of memory and dual pent. 933Mhz. It seems to serve my purposes very well so far and we see to be in similiar enviroments. Since AD and DNS are so dependant on each other in 2000 the RAM and a fast network connection are invauble.Hope this helps some.
