In the last couple of months the costs of ADSL have reduced making the service more affordable for small busineses and “power users” in my country, Argentina. I’m a member of a group of IT developers who has chosen ADSL (it uses PPPoEt, the good oleWinPoEt) to connect to the world, but we’d like to have a better security than ZoneAlarm for our PCs. Most of us have one PC or a small network of PCs, working under Windows 2000 or Windows 98; so we’d like to set up a Bastion Host working under those OS. I’ve being appointed the task of finding out how! and even though I understand the concept of the Bastion Host I am having troubles with the “howto” set it up.
Specifically I need to know: (under Windows 2000 and 98)
1) How to set up the two ethernet boards so that one “sees” the Internet and the other one that’s seen by the system and the rest of the Network if any?
2) How do I set up a firewall like ZoneAlarm to work on the Ethernet board that sees the Internet?
3)How do Idisable the routing between the 2 ethernet boards; and after that how do I get the PC to actually connect to the Internet? That is, how do I make the two boards to “talk” to each other? This part is really killing me! Examples would be grand here!! PLEASE!
I think that’s about it. I would really apreciate if you could help me!!!
Best regards
