Firewall in Windows Server 2003

I am in learning Windows Server 2003, I installed one Server and one xp pro client, if the firewall on server on, client took much time to log on and also not accessing the share, how could i configure firewall on server to allow client to access the server resource etc..

Each ressource has his own port(s) that you have to open in the firewall to let the server and client talk together. Windows share uses port 136 to 138 both UDP and TCP (if I remember it right) So you'd have to open those in the firewall.

anything in the event logs on either the server or the workstn? did you set up dns on the server? is the server also the dhcp server? also check time synchronization
