What would be the best firewall to use for a hosting business? I have been told to go with Checkpoint.

You can consider the Cisco PIX, I hear that Checkpoint will be end of life. It can be cheaper than Checkpoint because no additional hardware/server are required.

When you say "end of life" are they going to stop selling it?

When you say "hosting business" do you mean web hosting? If so, and if the company is gonna get hit with a lot of projected traffic, then I would go with Checkpoint. It really is the best large-scale firewall out there, in my opinion.
Raptor is good also, but Checkpoint gives you more flexibility. Making your own routing policies is great! http://www.checkpoint.com/
If the company is small (like a SOHO solution) then you can go with something smaller. I have had good experience with the Sonicwall line of firewalls for small offices. http://www.sonicwall.com/

hope this helps

One of the ideal hosting solutions for you from Checkpoint would be:

Checkpoint VPN-1/Firewall-1 VSX, a Multi Customer gateway solution will allow you to create up to 100 separate virtual systems on a single hardware platform. This virtualization and scalability lowers the hardware investment required to deliver security from the data center in addition to reducing time and effort to provision separate security policies. With VPN-1/FireWall-1 VSX, market-leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 can now scale to support 100 data center customers or 100 VLAN's in a corporate data center from one single hardware platform. Service providers are now able to efficiently deliver Check Point's market-leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 to many customers or VLAN's with ascalable platform, simple provisioning process and carrier-class performance and redundancy.

Look at Sonicwall.

http://www.sonicwall.com

Easy to configure and reliable. And you don't need $2,000.00 plus of training to use it. They have a web demo that gives you the actual look and feel of how it works. And I bought it from a Sonicwall VAR who is also a major Northwest web host who uses it (the Pro VX).
