I want to stream video using firewire over the internet to a hostcam.
Does the hostcam have to be set up to accept firewire streaming from my Camcorder?

Firewire is a hardware interface. Not a web, or software system.

Firewire is the port and protocal that your camcorder uses to connect to your computer.

The computer that receives your data stream needs to be able to accept the data you are sending it.
Depending on the data formats of the video data from your camcorder, and the data formats that the hostcam can accept, you may need to convert the data to a different format before sending it.

Common streaming formats are RAM (Real Audio)
AVI, and WMA (Windows Media)

In order to stream the video at full rate and resolution, you need a high speed uplink to the internet.
Neither Cable or ADSL may have the performance you need.

You also need to check with your ISP as to what the limits are on uploading data. Many have restrictions, and additional charges.
