FireWire and USB

By mbertel ·
FireWire(IEEE 1394) has gained a very popular reputation. Would there be a compatibility issue if someone where to install a FireWire card that already has a USB connection? If there would be a compatability issue, how would one resolve this? I know they are different cards with differnet standards as well as different software drivers. Trying to be on the safe side. Thank you for the feedback.

FireWire and USB

by johnny51 In reply to FireWire and USB

Hello -

There should be no reason that there would be any contention between the firewire and the USB. They are separate systems and use different hardware all together. For example my laptop has a usb printer attached and I use the integrated 1284 port to upload my video from my camcorder. I intend on putting in a 1284 card in my desktop that also uses a usb printer as well as a scanner...rest assured, the two can coexist without issue....
