Firing Prints On different IP address

By rajivnarayanan@hotmail ·
I have a NT workstation configured as 199.168.6.103 on G/W 199.168.6.100 for working on an specific application. The network printer has an IP config as 192.168.1.13. Is there any way to fire prints from this workstaion without changing the IP config?. The printer and the workstation are in the same office.

Firing Prints On different IP address

You could make the workstation multi-homed by adding another NIC to the workstation and connect that NIC to a switch or hub on the 192.168.1.0 network. On the second NIC, give it a static IP in the 192.168.1.0 network, and the default gateway must be left BLANK. This will cause the workstation to route any requests to a resource in 192.168.1.0 to that NIC, and any requests for any other IP address will go through the default gateway.

Hope this helps!

Firing Prints On different IP address

3 Solutons: 1: enlarge the subnetwork by changing the netmask, 2: assign a second IP to each computer (it's in the TCP/IP advanced settings), 3: install the printer on one computer and then share it and use that share (this computer must have 2 IPs)
The 2nd solution works if the workstations and the printer are on the same cable.
