Firmware and Driver Updates

by curle In reply to firmware and driver updat ...

Hi,
If you know the details and brand of what piece of hardware you are wanting to update your firmware for, then you should be able to download updates from your hardware suppliers website. If not, you could just do a google search for a firmware update for your hardware.
Hope this helps.

Bob Firmware updates need to be done differently

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to firmware and driver updat ...

You tend to need to boot with a DOS Floppy and then run the Firmware Update from a DOS Command Line generally on another Floppy Disc or CD R. It really depends on what Firmware you are attempting to update. The most usual Updated thing is the BIOS which always has a Program and Data File which you can copy to the Floppy and run after booting from a Windows 95-8 Boot Floppy. Then you can Update the Firmware on some HDD and Optical Drives and to do this it depends on the way that the drive maker has written the update generally it's run from a DOS Boot Floppy but sometimes it's run from within Windows. There should be update instructions where you downloaded the Firmware Update from.
