Fixboot for XP recovery console

by jkf101383 . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

Hi, I may have performed a very stupid thing… I created 2 partitions on my HD and loaded the second partition with vista RC1. Since that expired, I formatted the second partition but it still asked me what OS to boot. I loaded the XP cd and went to recovery console and ran fixmbr and then fixboot. When I re-boot the computer, it wouldn’t boot anything. Went back in the XP cd configuration, it said it was invalid or corrupt and halted setup. I have a 20 gig HD with XP I put in the tower and set the bad HD on slave to boot up for atleast internet. I see a D:\ and it says it’s 10 MB and FAT file system. Is there anyway to retrieve my data or is it a lost cause?
