Flash MacroMedia Update?

by andeanderson . Updated 17 years, 7 months ago

In the last couple of weeks I have had a Pop-Up announcing that an update is available for Flash Macromedia on my work stations.

I didn’t think too much about it, knowing how flaky and unreliable IE BHO, end users and security settings are, and just changed the settings to never notify me on those work stations.

But, this morning I came in and found the exact same pop-up on my MS SBS 2003 system. I have never allowed Flash or any other kind of Plug-In on my Server. Plus, when I tried to find the application process behind the pop-up it was unavailable or hidden from my Task Manager. And, there was no uninstall available for Flash MacroMedia.

Is anybody else getting blindsided by this uninvited installation of Flash?

I do not need these kind of virus attacks from Flash Macromedia. Flash may be OK, but NOT on my server.

It really bothers me that it could have been installed on my server “behind the scenes” without even asking if it could be installed.

How do I block this unwanted background installation?
