floppy disk drive repair

How can I possibly repair my floppy drive? Is there a software used for aligning the read/write head of my floppy drive? Can you suggest ways of repairing it without bringing it to a repair shop?

I know of no software for re-alignment of a floppy drive but this problem might get fixed faster & cheaper buying a new one.
They're very reasonable ($10 to $25!!), and easy to replace. I promise you could do this yourself.

No,there is no repairing for floppy drives, and as Ans. 1 said it would be wise to spend the $20 on a new one than trying to repair a damaged one.
No Points need be rewared to this comment.

Actually, there is software designed to realign heads on floppies, and it will fix most problems. However, it's commercial software, it's expensive, and not worth the cost. I know because I bought a copy years ago and it was a waste of money, (and that was when drives cost 60- 80 dollars). Even if you had the parts to repair a floppy, the heads have to be exactly aligned or it won't work. It's very diffucut work, and not worth the effort. Shop arround for a low priced floppy, it's time better spent.
