    floppy disk drive

    i can’t backup my microsoft money 2000 program to floppy disk but i can copy to it.
    at one point i got an error message that said something like “the backup program will not work because a disk utility may have locked it”

    help!!!

      Have you tried another floppy disk?

      You may be out of space on the first floppy or the first floppy may have a problem. At any rate, it is a good idea to have separate rotating backups to floppy for this. (I used Money 1999 Deluxe Version andhave had one of the floppies fail in the several years that I’ve been using this). A new floppy solved my problem.

      Check that the floppy write protect tab has not slid into the write protect side (if you can see through the write protect area — thyen that is the cause of your “disk lock.”

      And lastly make sure that someone has not changed the file attributes on the backup file ro “read-only” — that will essentially lock the file as well.
