Floppy doesn't work in Win98

I have a satellite 2545CDS laptop. The floppy disk works from dos, but not in windows... it says there is no disk in the a drive

When I have this problem, it is usually fixed by installing the IDE driver for the system.

See if you can download the driver from Toshiba.

Another solution that sometimes works is to delete the drive and controller from device manager.
Upon reboot, Windows should find the hardware, and install the correct drivers.

I've seen this before on Toshiba's. You will have an IRQ conflict.

You will have to adjust the IRQ's in Device Manager.

It turns out to be a known problem with this laptop. When the customer went to CMOS and modified the boot sequence, the problem began.
Fixed the problem by simply changing the boot sequence again.....
