While changing the duff CD-ROM on a Mitac DV5120V, I disconnected the floppy drive and stupidly forgot to reconnect the IDE cable (although power cable was left connected). I got the obvious ‘floppy fail’ but after powering down and reconnecting, I still get the fail and the light on the drive is on continously. Tried the drive on another machine – OK. Tried another known good drive on the Mitac – still get ‘floppy fail’. In setup, floppy is detected and I can’t see anything else wrong. Have checked and triple checked all cable connectors, if I bypass floppy in setup the rest of the machine works fine – what am I missing here?
