Most likely, the floppy cable is plugged in backwards at one end.

Pin 1 on most floppy drives is on the left when looking at the back of the drive.

These symptoms do not come from BIOS changes.
Someone plugged the cable in backwards.
No harm is done by this mistake.
Just make sure that cable is properly oriented to Pin 1 on both the motherboard, and the floppy drive, and the floppy will work.

Some floppy drive cables are a bit vague as to how they should be plugged in at the motherboard if there is no stub at one side, try swapping the connection on the motherboard or simply just remove the cable and put it back on both sides. Invisable corrosion can be cleared by this method.

Hi, I reversed the data cable(as per Colored edge) and made the chages in BIOS like Floppy Seek=Enable,Swap=Disable and Type=1.44MB also. The indicator is not at all glowing. But I got new problem at the time of startup, screen is showing "Floppy drive fail(40)" and giving options press DEL to continue or DEL to setup.Still drive is not recognizing folppy.
