Floppy runs during Retrospect Express

By ronestes ·
Floppy drive starts hunting as soon as Retrospect Express 6.5 is loaded. No other programs I run cause this problem. Problem appears to be with my computer as others are not having this problem.

Hi

I have never used this program, but a quick search on Google showed me that it is Backup software. By default, all good backup software will check ALL the drives to assess their current state, whether they are working, whether they have media in them etc, before allowing you start a backup job.

So, I would assume that this is expected behaviour from this software.

Good luck

I have received your message: "YES - Retrospect Express 6.5 is a backup program but it works fine in my OTHER W 98 SE computer and does NOT access the floppy constantly. There is a problem in THIS computer that is not associated with the program.
Do you have any other ideas as to what may be causing this problem in THIS conputer and not in my other computer that is working fine ? ? ?
TIA"

Well, can the software be configured to exclude the floppy drive? Or - if floppy access is not required on this computer, how about disabling it in the BIOS? You can always re-enable it if you need to use the drive to boot the machine.

this is not a problem or error . R express accesses the drives it notes down during installation and checks if the drives have media in them and read the info on the header of the media.
