Folder Auditing

By REYA ·
My HR Director wants to audit how many times her public folder on the server (W2K Server) has been accessed. Is it possible to do this?

Yes, you must first turn on auditing in the Group Policy and then you can set the auditing on the folder. For the best results, use MS Knowledge Base Article 315416 to set up auditing in the group policy (this article also covers auditing for other system files and objects), then use article 301640 to set the auditing on the folder in question. If you do not enable auditing first you will notice many entries in you event logs that pertain to this issue.
