    Folder Options

    Locked

    by webmaster ·

I have a file association of JPG files to MS Photo Editor in my control panel. I failed to open the files when I double click the jpg files from the windows explorer. However, I can open the files from within the MS photo editor. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

Depending on what version on windows you are using you need to find the “Folder Options” for “File Types”

In W2k it is under Windows explorer and Tools, Folder Options, File Types.

Find the JPEG, JPG, and JPE file extentions.
From there you can edit them to use the program that you want to open them on double click.

You can also just delete those types and when you try and double click them, windows will ask what program you want to open them with, and then you can choose the program and tell windows to always use that program to open that file type.

But my problem is that the folder options setting is OK. I have even tried to delte the extension “jpg” and re-added it. The MS Photo editor didn’t launch when I double the jpf files from withing windows explorer. I am sure that there is nothing wrong with MS Photo editor as I can open the jpf files from within MS photo editor by “File” -> “Open” action.
