Folder permission

Hi,
I have a folder called Sub1, everyone has access to it. Inside Sub1 folder, there is a subfolder called DOCS. I would like to keep everyone access to Sub1 but denied access to subfolder DOCS except for 4 users. (win2003 server)

Youn can keep the Full control permission to everyone, and give permissions to the 4 users on DOCS and clear the permissions inheritance check box...

Hi

Right-click the DOCS folder and select Sharing and Security. Click the Security Tab, then click the Advanced button. Clear the check box marked 'Inherit from parent the permission...' and choose to remove the entries. Click OK, then just add those users who require access and give them the permissions required.

I would create a security group and give the group permissions to access the folder. Then add the 4 people to that group that I want to have permissions. I prefer to use groups instead of individual users for security purposes. Makes it more flexable and easyer to manage down the road. (ie if a users role changes or a new user fills an old role).
