    Folder permissions

    Locked

    by gj2008 ·

I’m trying to set up a folder in the c: of our W2K server that allows administrators to have full control and read access for all other users. I’ve given the ADMINISTRATORS full control and the EVERYONE group read access – I am not able to create, delete, rename folders under the administrator account even though it has full control. Is this because ADMINISTRATORS come under the EVERYONE group? If so, how can I get around this without adding in and setting permissions for each individual user account? How can I remove the administrators account from the everyone group? Please advise.

How did you create this folder – what logon ID did you use to create it? Try logging on as that user and setting the permissions first. Also, make sure that the folder is not inheriting permissions from any upper level folder that might have a “deny” permission set for the Administrator account. If that doesn’t work, log on as Administrator and take ownership of the folder – this should resolve any lingering permissions problems for the Administrator account. Hope this helps!
