Folder problem

By shess57 ·
I am trying to install SolidWorks, a CAD program. In doing this I wind up with two folders on the system with identical names. One has the software in it the other is empty. I cannot delete the folder as XP thinks it's a system folder. I cannot delete it in DOS mode and I cannot remove it by modifying the registry.
HELP? Anyone every run into this or know if this is something specific about Solidworks? I have not got an answer from the vendor either...
Thanks,

Suggest you run the software and do some work in it, save the work, close, reopen, start a new project then check the contents of the 'empty folder'. This will tell you if the system has set up its own 'temp' or 'data' folder and if that is what youare looking at; some software does this.

Go to the following url which is one of the Langa List news letters: http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2003/2003-03-06.htm

Item #2 Explains why XP won't let you delete some files and folders.

Also, at the the following url you can download a program which you can use to delete any file or folder. Go to the bottom of the page for the freeware version, v1.9.5: http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/fileutil/index.htm

Hope this helps.
