Folder security

By maya_girish ·
In windows 2003 server I would like to set the security permission of a folder for some users only to write. Not to read or change. Is this possible?

Yes you can set the security permission so that some users will have certain permissions and some wont have. But here is a check point. As u have mentioned u need to give only write but not to read or change. So if u deny read. Users can not open the folder in the first place so obviously can write anything. So u can give the permissions logically. If u have more users u can create a group and make users u want to restrict as memebers of that group and add it to security and give permissions. And in you case i like to tell you that file encryption will fetch u desired result as u can create and modify documents but others can not read or modify but they will be able to create new documents and write in it.

You're going to at least have to give users access to "list folder contents" or they won't be able to open the folder.

I would then give them write access, and give CREATOR modify access in the folder(so each user can edit the files that THEY create).

I'm confused... how could they write anything if they can't even read it?
