I exported all our mailboxes using Exmerge. I deleted the priv.edb and then restarted Exchange. I then imported all mailboxes using Exmerge. After all this, some mailboxes have folders, in particular contacts, calendar and tasks, which were namedContacts1, calendar1 etc. When in Outlook, these folders do not seem to permit deletion, the 'delete' option is shaded out and cannot be selected. How can I remove these folders? Several users have simply recreated folders using the original names and moved the contents from those ending in a "1". However, they now have a Contacts and a Contacts1 folder etc.

What You have done is delete prev.edb allowing the files that You In/Exported, to 'go silent'. With other words, it is Locked out. What you now need to do, is reverse all that you've done and use the In/Export functions on the Outlook File folder. Other than that, Back-up those files that You need, than use a Dos File manager to delete those files or make sure they are not hidden. Check this using the View Files Command and change the values.
