follow up on parallel port problem

by fenaikh In reply to follow up on parallel por ...

Hi

Dos it print in DOS mode. ?

If not the n your first suspict is the BIOS setting. Some printers Need special setting or really the type of the prellale prot have to be set on a specific mode try the ECP mode since some of the printer need to spec to your computer.
ALso some types of cables will not support ECP try anopther one if possible.
May be the port is not connect inside the case from motherboard to port.

Pls supply the info if possible:

1. printer type.
2. Motherboard name or BIOS type.

The best way to verify the printer port is with a 'loopback' plug and port test software.

http://www.passmark.com/index.html

Is one of many sites that offer the software and a plug.
