Foolproof Outlook Express Backup

By hartwith ·
I have been asked to transfer data from a Win98 system to a new XP m/c and the Outlook Express data is of the utmost value in this case. I have tried the odd utility in the past and have found that they do not meet expectations. E.g loss of address book etc. The existing version of OE is V5.0 and the new m/c has v6 (or so I am told but I have not yet visited)!
Is there a foolproof method of backing up all OE folders + address book (whatever version) and then guaranteeing a restore to the new XP system. If it fails I'm toast!!!

all that stuff resides in a 'store folder' you can simply copy. locate the folder this way, in OE, go to Tools/Options/Maintenance/Store Folder. press the 'end' key to see the whole pathname. copy the folder, then reassure yourself you can get back to it at will by repeating above steps to point to the copy. all will be well. now you know how to include customers email in their backups...

Yes this does backup/restore the email folders but not the Windows Address Book. Address Book in OE version 5.0 is *.wab but no such suffix appears on the XP or 2k system with OE 6.0. I can locate the address book file in the 98 system but where to transfer it to is my problem.
