Force Network Log on

By dennisbv ·
I have a couple of Windows 98 machines that we they are booted up they never prompts for the Network logon. Especially after a restart. How can I force these machines to always display the network log in box?

Read MS KB article Q141858 or try to find the key AutoLogon in your registry by using regedit program and change the value to 0

One other thing to check for is that they have a good network connection. If the machines don't see a network to connect too they will skip right over the login. Also you may have a problem if you have 10/100 nic cards that are not resolving correctly or quickly enough. If you go into the nic card properties in network properties, there is a setting to force the card to one or the other depending on your network. If you do not actually have a network and you are talking about the windows login to the machine this will happen if someone signs in and does not have a password set on there account.

Hope some of this rambling can help!
