force other resources?

By TechSerf ·
Is there any way to change the grayed out box "use automatic settings"? I read about ACPI and plug and play, but how can you have the option to change it?

I have an onboard Compaq video and I added and ATI Radeon in AGP and they use the same memory!!! but, XP won't let me force a change. I want to use them both as dual display output.

any ideas?

thx

If I'm understanding correctly you're trying to use the onboard agp and an agp card? I thought dual monitor control worked with an agp and a pci?
I've heard of it a few times but not with onboard video. Any particular reason for two devices/ monitors? I beleive ATI radeons will support both the pc vga and a tv monitor at the same time depending on which one you purchased.

With most of the motherboardfs that I have come across you have to set the BIOS settings to pass the control over to the operating system (usually by turning the BIOS ones off).

Also you usually have the choice of using the on board video or a plug in video, I am not aware of a motehrboard that allows you to use both at once. Again this is a BIOS setting whereby you choose which you want.

Hi Mark, still no real answer here.but have you tried some of the gamers boards with this? They probably have more people doing it there.
Good Luck!
