Format an Iomega Zip 100 Tools disk

By tppurdy ·
Looking for a tip on formatting an Iomega Zip 100 Tools disk. While trying the standard format procedure a message indicates the disk is write protected (verified disk works).

Format an Iomega Zip 100 Tools disk

ZIP drives use some kind of optical read/write protection that is enabled/disabled through the Tools software (look for the white reflector on the bottom of the disk). Install the Tools software and then run it. The menu has an option to disable write protection. You may not want to format the disk if you don't have another one but just use the remaining space. I believe there is an option for first-time users to choose the operating system which will then will **** away the other ones on the Tools disk to free up the remaining space.
