Forward external requests for win2k dns

By jaboy78 ·
in my internal network, i got a win2k server dns with, let say group.com and now i forward it to my router and it conflicts with the external network because there is a external website www.group.com. how to resolve this conflicts???

I had tried to delete the forward zone and is ok, but all my workstation cannot log into the server.

You can try blocking the website www.group.com on your router. This may resolve the problem. It's worth a try.

Am I to understand that your DNS is conflicting with one externally.

If this is the case, you lose.

Workstations need to have only your DNS server in their DNS server listing. Then have the DNS server use forwarding to resolve unknown hosts.
If your domain name is not publicly registered it needs to be .local instead of .com.

Not totally sure of the problem from your description:

If it is that you cannot access the external website www.group.com from your internal computers, add a host record to your internal DNS called www and give it the ip address of the external website.

If you need to access an internal server called www.group.com it should all work ok if the cliens use your internal servers only for dns (which they should)
